So this is cool. The folks over at the Union Tribune came out to one of our Taste Team meetings
Our popular Backroom Beer Pairing is back on October 18. We are teaming up with Green Flash Brewing to offer gourmet bites with brewed delights at each of our seven Southern California locations.
These party pairings taste good, and do good. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Barons Market will donate 100 percent of proceeds from our four San Diego locations to the Shades of Pink Foundation and from our three Temecula Valley locations to Michelle’s Place.
Barons’ Backroom Beer Pairings transform loading docks and stock rooms into food and local brew speakeasies, this time featuring Green Flash brews. A select team of food and beer experts carefully curated the mouthwatering menu for October 18:
• Passion Fruit Kicker – A refreshing ale with a tropical twist, expertly paired with a feta, cranberry and pecan salad
• GFB – A new blonde ale with hints of honey and orange peel complemented by a mellow malt character, paired with Madras Lentils over Basmati rice.
• Soul Style IPA – A single IPA allowing bright tropical waves of flavorful citrus and floral notes to hit the palate, paired with mango chipotle pork sliders.
• West Coast IPA – An IPA brewed with a tantalizing menagerie of hops to create tropical fruit and grapefruit zest, pine notes, citrus zest and a floral aroma, paired with Barons Market Angus Chili.
To join the fun, head to one of Barons Market’s seven Southern California locations from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 18. Tickets will sell out, so purchase yours for $15 today.
How does Barons Market choose the products that you find on our shelves?
Just ask the Union Tribune. The local paper joined us recently for one of our famous food panel meetings to find out. Now, you can read the full article here.

Each year, more than 70,000 foodies gather for a weekend of eating, exploring and more eating at the Natural Products Expo. The event showcases the best of all-natural products for good-food aficionados (us) to taste test, bring back and stock our shelves.
This year, four trends stood out among the feeding frenzy.
Whether for frozen meals or grab n’ go, Korean entrees are in right now. We love the spicy and savory flavors and welcome kimchi into our lives with open arms.
Paleo and Plant-Based Protein
You may have heard of Paleo – the “caveman” diet popularized by athletes. According to this year’s Natural Products Expo, Paleo isn’t just for exercise enthusiasts. It seems that high-protein meals and plant-based protein sources are more prevalent than ever.
Chicken, beef, fish – anything with bones can be made into high-nutrient bone broth. Full of vitamins and collagen, bone broth is quickly joining the list of delicious superfoods.
No surprise here – gluten-free products remain all the rage. Fortunately for all of us, they get tastier every year. At Barons, you can find all of our gluten-free products located in one section of the store for quick, relaxed shopping.
We expect to see these items popping up in a variety of places, but we’ll bring only the best selection and the best prices to your local Barons Market. Think of us as your grocery Sherpa – we’re here to guide you through the joyful experience of trying new foods. Cheers to a year of adventurous eating.
On March 15, Barons and Hangar 24, a microbrewery based in Redlands, will team up for the next Barons Backroom Beer Pairing.

What happened to 2016? It seems like just yesterday that we reflected on our top ten moments of 2015.
As the year draws to a close and we reflect on 2016, we remember a year of brave beginnings, new neighbors, fantastic in-store features, breathtaking beer pairings and an unwavering commitment to continue bringing you good food at good prices.
In 2016, we…
Opened two stores. In January, Murrieta opened its doors to become our third Inland Empire store, followed by the December opening of Barons Market North Park as our first-ever urban location and our seventh store in Southern California. As the North Park community welcomed us, we hired five local artists to paint community-inspired murals inside the store and in our parking garage. This year marked the first time ever that Barons Market opened two stores in one year – not that we’re counting or anything.
Added a lot of fun features for you. Ok, it’s for us too. In any of our seven stores, you will now notice an artisan olive oil and vinegar bar, a squeeze-your-own-fresh-orange-juice machine, an expansive selection of grab-n-go entrees that include gourmet dinners, snack packs and ready-to-heat lunches and more gourmet cheeses than you could ever dream of. Fantasizing about truffle-flecked goat cheese or triple-cream French brie for your New Year’s Eve party? Look no further.
Felt the media love. San Diego CityBeat named us San Diego’s “Best Grocery Store,” and our team earned Editors Pick for “Best Grocery Store” in The Press Enterprise. No honor has felt higher than knowing our communities chose us for this recognition. Thank you.
Gave back to important local causes. Thanks to your love for craft beer and doing good, our four Backroom Barons Backroom Beer Pairings raised more than $25,000 for various local charities, including the San Diego Food Bank, Temecula-Murrieta Community Pantry, Susan G. Komen San Diego, Michelle’s Place, Pug Rescue of San Diego County and Animal Friends of the Valleys. Thank you to Alpine Brewing, Modern Times Brewing, Lost Abbey Brewing and Ironfire Brewing for helping us make these events something we won’t soon forget.
When we look back, it’s hard to imagine how 2017 will top this year. Somehow, we think we’ll find a way.
Happy Holidays! From our family…to yours.
