On Sunday, July 16, the smell of barbeque, sound of sizzling burgers and taste of top-notch ingredients will consume the Barons Market, Alpine parking lot as barbeque experts teach 90 customers how to build a better burger. The pop-up workshop, hosted by Weber Grilling Academy, rolls through to teach basic grilling techniques using affordable and high-quality ingredients found in the aisles of Barons Market. On March 15, Barons and Hangar 24, a microbrewery based in Redlands, will team up for the next Barons Backroom Beer Pairing.
Barons’ Backroom Beer Pairings transform loading docks and stock rooms into food and local brew speakeasies. Friends will gather at their neighborhood store to sample Hangar 24 brews paired with savory appetizers made from the market’s selection of all-natural ingredients. A select team of Barons taste experts and Hangar 24 beer makers carefully curate an experience that is full of unparalleled flavor – and easy to replicate at home.

What happened to 2016? It seems like just yesterday that we reflected on our top ten moments of 2015.
As the year draws to a close and we reflect on 2016, we remember a year of brave beginnings, new neighbors, fantastic in-store features, breathtaking beer pairings and an unwavering commitment to continue bringing you good food at good prices.
In 2016, we…
Opened two stores. In January, Murrieta opened its doors to become our third Inland Empire store, followed by the December opening of Barons Market North Park as our first-ever urban location and our seventh store in Southern California. As the North Park community welcomed us, we hired five local artists to paint community-inspired murals inside the store and in our parking garage. This year marked the first time ever that Barons Market opened two stores in one year – not that we’re counting or anything.
Added a lot of fun features for you. Ok, it’s for us too. In any of our seven stores, you will now notice an artisan olive oil and vinegar bar, a squeeze-your-own-fresh-orange-juice machine, an expansive selection of grab-n-go entrees that include gourmet dinners, snack packs and ready-to-heat lunches and more gourmet cheeses than you could ever dream of. Fantasizing about truffle-flecked goat cheese or triple-cream French brie for your New Year’s Eve party? Look no further.
Felt the media love. San Diego CityBeat named us San Diego’s “Best Grocery Store,” and our team earned Editors Pick for “Best Grocery Store” in The Press Enterprise. No honor has felt higher than knowing our communities chose us for this recognition. Thank you.
Gave back to important local causes. Thanks to your love for craft beer and doing good, our four Backroom Barons Backroom Beer Pairings raised more than $25,000 for various local charities, including the San Diego Food Bank, Temecula-Murrieta Community Pantry, Susan G. Komen San Diego, Michelle’s Place, Pug Rescue of San Diego County and Animal Friends of the Valleys. Thank you to Alpine Brewing, Modern Times Brewing, Lost Abbey Brewing and Ironfire Brewing for helping us make these events something we won’t soon forget.
When we look back, it’s hard to imagine how 2017 will top this year. Somehow, we think we’ll find a way.

On Wednesday, December 14, all Barons Market locations will transform loading docks and stock rooms into food and local brew speakeasies. A Barons Market tradition, the family-owned grocery store gifts proceeds back to local organizations in the community. Proceeds from the December 14 event will benefit the San Diego Food Bank and the Temecula Food Pantry.

As we get closer to opening our doors in North Park, we’re searching for neighbors to join our family. Barons will host our next hiring fair, Friday and Saturday, October 21 and 22, from 10am – 4pm at our soon-to-open store, located at 3231 University Avenue.
With our first urban location, Barons will bring all-natural food, a superior craft beer selection and grab-and-go options to North Park’s artistic, vibrant neighborhood.
